Ingredients
8 Good Ranchers Burger Patties
16 slices Good Rancher’s Bacon
8 thick slices Cheddar Cheese
Condiments and toppings of your choosing: lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions, mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, ranch dressing, etc.
For the homemade buns:
2 tsp yeast
2 tbsp Sugar
1 cup Warm Milk
2 ¾ cup Flour
½ tsp Salt
2 Eggs (one for the dough and one for the egg wash)
3 tbsp Butter, melted
Salt and pepper to season
Instructions (for the buns)
1. In a large bowl, mix the yeast, 1 tsp sugar, and warm milk and leave it to proof – about 5 minutes.
2. Combine 2 ½ cups flour, the remaining sugar, and salt, and mix well. Add the proofed yeast, one egg, melted butter, and use a sturdy spoon to mix it until it’s just combined, forming a shaggy dough. Don’t over mix!
3. Cover with plastic wrap or a lid and let it sit for 5 minutes.
4. Uncover, turn dough out on a lightly floured surface and knead while adding the final ¼ cup flour. It’ll feel soft but don’t add more flour. Only kneed for about 3 minutes.
5. Return dough to an oiled bowl; cover and let it rest for 30 minutes covered.
6. Punch down the dough and place it back on a lightly floured surface. Divide the dough into 8 pieces roll them into rounded hamburger buns.
7. Place them on a parchment lined baking sheet. Make an egg wash by whisking one egg and brushing it on the tops of the buns.
8. Cover the buns and let them rise for another 15 minutes.
9. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Place buns in over and bake for 12-15 minutes until they’re golden brown.
**This may seem like a lot of steps to follow, but these are the best burger buns we've ever tried!
Instructions (for the burgers)
1. Set the burgers out on a large pan 30 minutes before grilling. Season on both sides with salt and pepper and allow them to rest and come closer to room temperature.
2. On a griddle top grill set to high, cook the slices of bacon until crisp on both sides; set aside.
3. Cook hamburgers 2-3 minutes per side until their internal temperature is at least 160 degrees.
4. During the last minute of cooking add a thick slice of cheddar to the top of the meat to allow it to melt.
5. Assemble your perfect burger by slicing the warm homemade buns and adding the cheeseburger patty, bacon, and all your favorite toppings and condiments!
