The Steak Pasta Recipe You Have To Try

It’s that time of year for comfort food. Those dishes that make you feel as warm inside as the holiday season does are special, and nothing warms you up like a delicious bowl of pasta. Throw a perfectly marbled steak on top and you take the comfort to a whole other level, which is exactly what we did in this recipe. Our friend Lisa from Table Full of Joy helped put this recipe together using our Flat Iron Steaks, and you need to get some steaks asap and make this because it is so good. Follow the simple instructions and ingredient list below to enjoy!

 

INGREDIENTS

Pasta

  • 12 oz penne pasta

Steak

  • 1 lb flat iron steak or ribeye or sirloin
  • 1 tbs olive oil
  • Salt and Pepper

Cream Sauce

  • 2 tbs butter
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch or 1 tbs flour
  • 3 garlic cloves minced
  • ½ cup chicken broth
  • ½ cup milk
  • ¼ cup mozzarella
  • ¼ cup parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Additional Toppings

  • ⅓ cup Sun-dried Tomatoes
  • 2 cups Spinach fresh
  • ¼ cup green chile roasted, peeled, and chopped (can use canned)
  • Parsley chopped for garnish
  • Red Pepper Flakes for garnish

INSTRUCTIONS

Cook Pasta

  1. Cook pasta according to package instructions. Bring a large pot of water to a boil then add dried pasta a cook until al dente.
  2. 12 oz penne pasta

Cook Steak

  1. Season both sides of the steak with salt and pepper.

  2. Heat a large skillet over medium high heat. Once pan is hot add oil.

  3. When oil is heated, cook steak for 2-4 minutes each side, until the center reaches your desired temperature. For a medium rare steak remove when the internal temperature is at 130-135°F so the carry over heat will rise to 140°F-145°F. Once cooked to your desired doneness remove steak from pan and set aside.
  4. 1 lb flat iron steak

Make Cream Sauce

  1. Melt butter in a large fry pan over medium heat. Add minced garlic and cook until fragrant, 1-2 minutes.

  2. Whisk in cornstarch (or flour if using) until fully dissolved. Stir in broth and milk, stirring frequently. Allow the sauce to thicken and start to boil.

  3. Once sauce is boiling add in mozzarella and parmesan cheese. Stir until melted. Add salt and pepper to taste.
  4. ¼ cup mozzarella,¼ cup parmesan cheese, salt and pepper
  5. Add in the cooked pasta noodles.
  6. Stir in the sun-dried tomatoes, green chile, and the spinach. Allow pasta to cook for 2-4 minutes, or until the spinach is wilted. You can turn the heat off and cover with a lid until spinach is wilted.
  7. ⅓ cup Sundried Tomatoes,2 cups Spinach,¼ cup green chile
  8. Slice steak and add to the pasta. Sprinkle with chopped parsley, red pepper flakes and extra parmesan as a garnish.

NOTES

Tips and Tricks

  • If you have a favorite premade alfredo sauce, you can use that! Just heat in a medium saucepan then pour over cooked noodles. Add sun dried tomatoes and spinach for extra flavor!
