3 Of Our Favorite Steak Skewer Recipes

By Good Ranchers May 15, 2020

Eating meat on a stick has long been a tradition the Good Ranchers team has loved. In fact, going to state and county fairs and trying all the different foods on sticks is one of our favorite things. But since we are in the business of selling quality meat, we wanted to share some easy and tasty steak skewer recipes to try this week. Be sure to stop by one of our Good Ranchers pop-up locations and stock up on meat, and then try your hand at any of these easy steak skewer combos.

The best thing about making steak skewers is that you can get creative with them; there really aren’t any rules. And turns out, if you add an ingredient that you don’t love, just pull it off the skewer and move on to the next. Take the skewer recipes below and mix in your favorite vegetable or citrus fruit and have fun with it. These are easy grilling recipes you can get the kids involved in too, but make sure you practice grilling safety tips.

Garlic Butter Steak & Vegetable Skewers

  • 1 lb beef sirloin cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1 cup mushrooms
  • 1 red onion cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1 green bell pepper, cored and diced into 1-inch pieces (or sub jalapeno peppers)
  • 2-3 teaspoons olive oil
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic (or garlic salt)
  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley

Put beef, mushrooms, pepper and onion onto skewers in order and repeat until skewer is almost full, leaving enough room to handle the stick on both ends.

Using a grill brush, brush olive oil over skewers and season with salt and pepper.

Place skewers on grill for 4-5 minutes each side, or desired cook temperature.

Melt butter in a small pan over medium low. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute.

Remove pan from heat and stir in parsley and salt and pepper.

Brush garlic butter over the skewers (rotate to fully coat) and serve hot.

Balsamic Steak Skewers

1/2 cup balsamic vinegar

2 tbsp honey

1 1/2 tbsp whole-grain mustard

3 garlic cloves, minced

3/4 lb sirloin steak, cut into 1-inch pieces

1 red onion, cut into 1-inch pieces

3 cup grape tomatoes

1 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil

2 tsp freshly chopped rosemary

  1. Soak wooden skewers in water, and preheat grill to medium heat.
  2. Whisk balsamic vinegar, honey, mustard, garlic, salt and pepper in a bowl. Add steak to the bowl and toss to coat evenly. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate 30 minutes up to 1 hour to let steak marinate.
  3. Toss onion, tomatoes, and olive oil in a bowl, then stir in rosemary, salt and pepper.
  4. Place steak and vegetables on the skewer, alternating, and grill, turning occasionally. Grill 6-8 minutes for medium temperature, and serve immediately.
